Sick and tired, a workplace wellbeing crisis

In the wake of the pandemic and amidst increasing economic uncertainty, Australian employees are apprehensive about the future of work and its impact on their mental health.

The statistics paint a stark reality. Mental illness is now the leading cause of absence and long-term work incapacity, costing the Australian economy billions. We are in the depths of a wellbeing crisis that is debilitating our workforce and suffocating our healthcare system — it requires immediate action, and a revolutionary approach.

A thriving workforce starts with well ‘beings’

When meaningful change to workplace wellbeing is implemented, employees are more engaged, more likely to stay with the organisation and more willing to go above and beyond. This positive shift not only enhances the overall work environment but also fosters a culture of collaboration and productivity.

Traditional Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) have been the worldwide workplace solution to employee welfare since the 1940’s. Yet program awareness, stigma, accessibility and privacy concerns harbour usage, resulting in uptake rates of less than 4%. Leora.ai addresses these challenges head-on, revolutionising workplace support by offering a modern, accessible, and stigma-free approach to employee wellbeing, ensuring that every individual feels supported and empowered.

Grounded in Real Human Experience

Leora.ai is guided by the visionary leadership of our Founder & CEO, Esha Oberoi, whose 15 years of expertise has successfully scaled award-winning Australian healthcare company Afea Care Services. Experienced in excelling workplace wellbeing, Afea Care Services was Australian Financial Review’s Best Places to Work from 2020-2023 ( 3 years in a row ) and named HRD’s 2023 Employer of Choice. Through Afea we witnessed firsthand the struggles of individuals living with psychosocial disabilities, waiting in limbo for mental health support. Our own workforce, the pulse of our business, even experienced delays in accessing traditional EAPs.

Drawing inspiration from the stories witnessed and lessons learned, we stood at the intersection of compassion and innovation, and embarked on a transformative journey — Leora.ai.

Our purpose? To revolutionise the workplace wellbeing landscape by redefining employee ‘assistance’, empowering proactive self-care and embedding wellbeing into the fabric of each and every business.
